Also, it was quite apparent that the plastic was very brittle. The plastic must have developed stress cracks and eventually gave way.īecause the four mounting holes are also beside some other holes (for ventilation?), there was just not enough strength to hold the motor in. One of the rear motors popped out of its mounting holes. My initial assumption of the crash was correct. Props were either chipped broken or had flex marks.

Was able to retrieve it yesterday morning. Tried bringing it down slowly, and at 30 meters, heard a loud popping sound, then the Flexify pitched forward and diagonally flew downwards and crashed on my neighbors roof across my house.

I took control of the quad and switched to gps to try to steady it. Mind you, there was only a slight breeze at the time. When it was about 10 meters away from the Home point, the Flexify started swinging wildly (at 50 meters height) from left to right. Everything was going smoothly until I heard a high pitched whine different from the sound of the motors.ĭecided to do an RTL and the quad started its way back. Using the Ardupilot Tower app with preset waypoints. I was doing some night flying in good weather. Mind you, I have had the drone since November 2016 and have flown it every weekend since I got it. Skiheels1 Did you ever buy one? Are their any other owners lurking in the shadows? I have not been in the quadcopter game long Hubsan 107 in Jan 2016 flew away in April and bought my son a Nat Geo Quad for Xmas that is still going strong and severely under rated but I hope this new hobby of mine sticks. With a price point of 230$ I don't understand why it's not popular but hopefully it will live up to its specs. Its large(587mm) and foldable(215mmX215mm) has one of the highest reviewed apps on Google play has follow me, orbit, leash capabilities,RTL button and failsafe, alt hold mode, OSD telemetry, GPS waypoints, large carrying capacity, extra add on modules (sold separately) that include a T4-3D gimbal, 2 different externally mounted TX, a Radio controlled search light and camera, an offloading hook, A 360 camera mount(3D printable only I think) I am curious as to why such a well reviewed on Amazon/ YouTube quad has such a small footprint/exposure ? It seams to check a lot of the blocks I was looking for at a very good price point(only the Aonsema CG035 match's up in price but with all the uncertain reviews on the different versions it wasn't a Gamble I wanted to make)
FLEXIFY CRACKED BY NEO PATCH
I also ordered the flexify 200mw TX and gopro mount(not the gimbal) 2 mushroom antennas for TX and RX along with a patch Antenna to go along with the Deversity Monitor I ordered(FlySky Black pearl). Hey guys! Just ordered my Flexify this week and currently waiting on its arrival. Will fly it again this coming weekend and hopefully the weather will cooperate then. So far, after these 2 flights, I would say the Flexify did admirably well in adverse conditions. The 2nd flight was just a simple takeoff and land at 5 meters height to test and drain the battery (until Auto Land). My heart was beating through my chest though as the winds were buffeting the thing to death and I was afraid it would be pushed around. It flew to around 15meters in height over the launch point and started to land itself properly. To its credit, the Flexify drone did RTL properly. It wasn't a low battery as this was during the first 3 or 4 minutes of flight. I assume that it may have lost the required number of satellites and did a failsafe. I was using the transmitted and did not have the Flexify connected to my phone, so I did not have an idea what caused the RTL. and was flying it out to that distance when it suddenly stopped at around 200+meters away and did an RTL (Return to LaunchPoint). Again, I should mention that I was flying it in not recommended conditions. and when I had it up in the air, at around 20 meters where the wind was the strongest, I was really concerned about it toppling over. It was fighting the wind gusts and trying it's darndest to stay stable. My experience was that the drone is pretty powerful. but I still tried to take it out for a couple of flights. The wind gusts were beyond the recommended 15-20kph.

I was up at our farm which is located in the mountains and unfortunately, the weather wasn't really cooperating much. I bought this last December and was able to do a couple of test flights over the New Years' eve and day weekend.
